Default Polaris Newbie Testing the AWD

Ok so i just got a 2002 sportsman 400...
The awd light comes on but im not so sure the awd is working because the other day i was pulling my boat trailer in the yard and my rear wheels began to spin...
i stopped....turned on the awd and when i tried going forward again the rear wheels were spinning but the front were not...
so....if i put the quad on stands with the awd engaged will all four wheels turn??
whats the best way to test the awd system??
i know the front driveshaft does turn with the quad moving forward that i know for sure...
Dan....

Another way to do it is to have some one watch when you get a tire off the ground when climbing rocks. The tire in the air should be turning. Also if you have all 4 wheels off the ground they should all turn. It should only take about 1/5th of a turn for them to engage. The two things you don't want to do with a Polaris are get the rear wheels spinning quickly in low traction and put the AWD on and don't jump it in AWD. If you are going along and not losing traction (all wheels turning at same rate) you can put it in and out of AWD at speed.

i read something about checking the power supply to the front diff??
i have a 2002 sportsman 400 and there are no wires running to the front diff.
just wires going to each front hub which i assume lock and unlock the hubs.
correct??
if the awd light goes on when the switch is on then i would assume that theres power down there but ??...i did notice that when its in reverse the light goes off...so i dunno.....
i guess i will know more tommorrow...
