'09 X2 -- what's the rubber plug for?

There's a large flat rubber plug located on the left side of the control pod, exactly opposite the ignition switch. Looks like it's the right size for another switch. Since there's already a 12VDC accessory socket on the left side of the control pod, what's that rubber plug for? No mention of it in the manual. A second 12VDC socket, maybe?

I think it's the hole for the choke mount on a carb model.

Isn't that the same on all of our EFI Sportsman models? I have one and I know some guys who add the Rad Hot temp gauages etc. can fit on there. Be nice to see some other ideas of what people use it for.

Thx,

R'

Choke on carb models... ok, that makes sense. Thanks. Now I have to think of something to use that hole for. Can't stand having an accessory hole with no accessory...lol.

I agree with Rtikwad ...a temp gauge would look sweet!

that is your 12 volt plug in the used to be on the left side of headlight pod..At least that's what it is on my 2009 550 XP>>

Nope, this 500 EFI X2 has the 12V plug on the left side of the headlight pod. But I think they did make a non-EFI 500 X2, so it is probably just a place for the choke for models with that engine.

A good place for your Nitrous switch? Pulse drive? Stinger missile launcher? :)

It's definitely a left over from the chokes of the carb models.

Anyone have a link to the temp gauges mentioned above?

RE: Temp gauge... Don't know if this is the same, but here's one that looks kind of promising--I'm considering it for my 500 EFI X2:
