Default Predator 500 help needed ASAP!!!!

Hey ya'll!

I'm looking at buying a Predator 500. Owner says it's a 2005. How can I confirm this on chassis serial numbers?

Also, the owner says bike rev's up slowly, does not have that "cut & thrust" response as it used to have. Says that it's still hit 80+ mph, just a dog in winding trails.

I have yet to ride the bike and see it for that matter. He's on the other side of the country.

He wants equivalent of $ 2k for it [ZAR 15k].

Should I look at it or miss it? Polaris has a decent dealer network here in South Africa, parts are very expensive though.

I have yet to read much on the Predator, are they popular? I had a TRX 250ex [2006], Blaster [1997] and many other Jap quads. This would be new to me.

What do you think? I'm looking at concluding deal by this weekend, 15th Nov.

Many thanks!

It could just be a carb issue, maybe just a good cleaning.

2k is just under low retail according to NADA here. If it's not running right, I would think it would be worth even less.

This may help on the VIN number and year.

It had a service, according to the owner, recently. Not sure when it started to act up...

Maybe dealer advised him to sell it quickly?

Same models here sell for ZAR 35k upwards. Around $5k in your currency.

Thanks for the lead!

So, looks like the guy tried to BS me. Year model did not check out as he suggested. When I requested VIN number, he avoided me like the plague. Looks like I dodged a bullet here!

Going to look at an Arctic Cat dvx 400 now [2006], also $2k fully loaded with PEP +2" front end, HMF pipe and other bits. He's throwing in a full riding kit free, worth $1k.
