I plan on making a set of ramp's and just looking for idea's to make a good set that would be less than 50lbs. Perhaps out off steel angle iron. Any idea's?

Ramps for what? Loading or jumping?

I built a set out of 1"x1" square tube they are 10"w x 6' in length with a rung every 8"(they look like a pair of very narrow ladders). I'm sure they are less than 50lbs but they are bullet proof. Sorry no photos.

Building ramps takes away from riding time, Ohio Steel makes a set of aluminum arched ramps that fold that are about 125.

For loading the quad with. I don't feel like spending over a 100 dollar's for a pile of metal that cost's less than 20 bucks. I can probally weld a set together in less than a half hour. I plan on building a set 12"x1.5"x8" made out of 1/8" angle iron.

Cut a 16 ft 2x8 in two,or buy two 8 ft 2x8s.You may want shorter than 8ft if you have a short box or a "want to be truck" so you can close the tail gate.

I know Dennis kirk has aluminum angle irons for around 8-14 dollars, and you supply either a 2x8 or 2x12, or they will sell you the kit for 42 dollars. It's light weight and durable. If you think you need traction on the ramps, just cut up an old tire so you have two narrow strips of rubber on each ramp for traction

Buy a 16 ft aluminum ladder with the round rungs and cut in half. Light weight and less than 100.00. Just make sure it has the round rungs.

If you have the time stop by your local scrap metal dealer. I managed to pick up a 16ftx12"x1.5" piece of perforated catwalk material. Its galvanized ( so it wont rust) and the perforations on the face of the catwalk TOTALLY eliminates any chance of slippin off even when things are iced up. The best part was i got the piece for FREE, all i had to do was cut it into 2 8ft pieces :-] The ramps are indestructable ! ( i have seen those lightweight amuminum ramps collapse while loading an atv so if i were you i would shy away from aluminum ramps )
