it's possible, have you checked to make sure your throttle cable is adjusted properly

YES, jiggle the wires where they connect to the sensor and see if it changes the way its running.

Ethanol does not make your engine dirty, dirt past the air filter does.
Ethanol is actually cleaner than gas and if anything cleans out the fuel system.
Ethanol dirty and poor performance are old wives tales.

I am on my third t-bap sensor. The first time i had issues it would idle at higher rpm but would bounce around a lot. A lot of times the issue with the harness is not visible. The wire can actually bread inside the connector that connects with the tbap sensor. That is what happend to me the first time. THe second time the wire insulation actually rubbed off due to vibrating against each other and shorted out.

Most of the EFI problems (80%) relay on electric cables and cable harnesses.
Two components are usually affected by cable harnesses.
TPS and T-BAP.
First: take a closes look at the cables that are connected to the T-BAP , and the TPS.
4 wires should be connected to the T-BAP, and 3 to the TPS.

Second: run EFI diagnostics.

Use the following procedure to download blink codes (failure codes) from the EFI
module.
1. Place the transmission in PARK.
2. Stop the engine.
3. Turn the key switch to the ON position.
4. Turn the key switch off and on three times in less than five seconds,
then leave the switch on. Any blink code numbers stored in the EFI
module will display, one at a time, on the screen. The number “61”
and the word “END” displays after all codes have been transmitted.

Error 45= Barometric Pressure Sensor ( T-BAP): Circuit Low Input
Error 46= Barometric Pressure Sensor ( T-BAP): Circuit High Input
Error 22= TPS: Open or Short Circuit to Ground
Error 22= TPS: Short Circuit to Battery

If one of these errors appears, it’s probably one of the harnesses.

B.T.W , you can’t maintenance the T-BAT without special Polaris tools.

Default T-bap problems

I have a 2009 Polaris Sportsman 800 Touring with 95 (easy) hours on it and recently started having symptoms everyone describes with T-BAP issues. I found the T-BAP plug with 3 of the 4 wires broken inside the connector that would give the impression all is good until you ohm check. Also, I found a 2 of the 3 wires completely free of insulation and appears they were falling against the exhaust system. I also found the TPS wires in the same condition. After I repaired the wires by soldering them onto the pins and replacing the burned section of the wires, they all ohm checked good (no short or open wire). I was still getting error codes 41 & 45 and after ohm checking the T-BAP sensor at the pins I found all to be shorted to each other. This indicates the sensor probably shorted internally when the insulation was burned off and shorted to ground. I replaced the T-BAP sensor and all is working good now, but I plan to replace the T-BAP harness with the heavy duty one that is selling on the internet at $38. Please feel free to contact me if you have questions with a similar issue.

You're one of the few I've heard of where a sensor was damaged by the wiring shorting out,but it can happen.Don't think I had any at the shop even with all the wiring kits I had to do.Yes the OTB kits are the best from what I've heard.A lot better than the crappy Polaris harness kits I had to use.
