Nice Thor! You did good man! I must say that RED is growing on me! Might just be the way the pic displays on my screen but it seems like the new XPs are longer? If so how much compared to the former Sportsman?

I the auto world it is the money that exist between invoice price to the dealer and the dealers real cost. It is money that is generally held back to cover floor plan intrust charges while the vehichles set on the lot waiting to be sold.
I think Thor is right on with the cost, I paid 9k for my 2010 a couple days ago, I could have got it for 8800, if I had wanted to drive a couple hours round trip. But They had it and made the deal close enough. 8700.00 is cheaper than I had seen anywhere on a 2010.
The 8K on the one mentioned earlier was a 2009, and there is some closeout rebate money on the 09s. Thats why you can find 09s from $8-8300.00. Next summer the 2010s will be priced down in that range as well. It happens every year. I am just not normally patient enough to get to take advantage of it.

Polaris made a few changes, but I have not had a chance to ride it and see if any are noticable. I got my 10' Tuesday, and the weather has not been what I would call riding weather since I got it. I hope to be able to answer that at least to some degree in the next couple weeks.

Good information. I would add that the dealers do have incentives to sell "X" amount of units by yearend. If they make certain level, then they receive money back. I believe the dealer did my deal to attempt make their total units for the year. They have a couple of 850's and 550's left and I am not sure if they made their number or not.
I am happy with the deal they gave me as no one would come close to it within a 300 mile radius. One dealer stated he would be willing to keep his 09' knowing that as the 10's filled his showroom, the 09' price would be attractive to some buyers.

All dealers will receive something called "Hold back" at the end of the year. That is usually 5% of invoice meaning a extra $50 per thousand. More sold more money back. That being said Polaris as well as everyone else keeps it fair and does not give "special prices" for selling more units. More units sold means first in line for units needed. Or in other words "allocation". This is from someone who is a X GM for a car dealership.

I just returned from a nice 140 miles trip with my new toy from Northern Wisconsin. It did great! We left the cabin on Saturday morning. It was 0 out by then and by mid day it warmed up to a toasty 4 degrees. Plenty of sun and blue skies. We drove for 9 hours and had 3 stops total. By the time we hit the restaurant for dinner the sun was down and the temp started to drop fast. We had a few drinks and some awesome prime rib. By the time we left for the 10 mile ride back to the cabin it was blowing and we keep the speed at around 45-50 mpg. Did the calculations today and the last leg of the trip we had about -45 with windchill. IT WAS COLD!!! The XP did a great job. I must admit this is the last time I will ever ride in such cold weather.
