2003 Sportsman 700 Transmission Issue
Hey Guys,
I have a 03 Sportsman 700 and over New Years weekend I was riding on a lake, there was about 2 in of fluffy snow on it so there was some grip but not much. I was in high gear 4WD the whole time (if that matters).
I was taking a wide turn and slid into a 180 (did plenty of them over the course of the weekend) and heard a metal clank as it slid to a stop. When I gave it gas it just reved up, did not move at all. I first thought was that the belt snapped, I took over the cover but the belt is good. The bike is stuck in High gear and needed to be dragged from the middle of the lake and eventually put on the truck (let me tell you that was a tough task in itself).
It seems like something in the transmission went, im not sure what any ideas before I go and remove everything. How hard is the transmission removal / disassembly?
I am pretty good with mechanical stuff but never opened any transmission.
Im still waiting for all the snow/ice to melt on it.
Thanks in Advance,
Dan

The clutch spins but the belt doesnt, the back part where the belt goes around (not sure of the name) does not spin.
You are correct the back wheels are locked, the bike was dragged more than 500 feet and we tried like hell to get the back wheels unlocked, but to no avail
Also the shifter has more play than usual but it wont switch gears, it is very easy to move back and forth for about 3-4 inches then it is stuck after that

So I am stuck on removing the transmission, the only parts I have left to remove are the roll pins, the problem is that since the bike is stuck in gear the roll pins are not in an ideal spot to get any kind of swing with a hammer. The rear roll pin is in the verticle position, any ideas on how to get it horizontal? also is there a roll pin on the shaft that goes out of the transmission?
Thanks
