Question 2005 Polaris Scrambler 500 problems. PLEASE HELP!

My 05 Scrambler 500 4x4 runs great. But when i starts to warm up, my centrifugal clutch seems to be slipping. I can smell the belt burning. Is my clutch shot? How can i test something to see if my clutch is no good? When the quad is first started it runs great and the clutch doesn't slip at all, i have plenty of power. The belt on it seems new. What kind of belt should i have on it?( The belt on it now has ribs only on one side, and the ribs are facing in). When the quad is worm i have to give like half throttle just to move the quad.

How long do you let the bike warm up before riding it?

That is odd. probably a clutch problem or something. I would have to dig into it to find out what is wrong.

I am not that familiar with the Polaris clutch operation. If you keep up on this forum I am sure someone can help.

What does the belt look like? Worn at all?

It may just be the belt going bad. When you pulled the casing off, was there any black dust buildup in there?

I had to replace my buddies belt because he was not using low gear to pull stuff and he burnt the belt up. Once you wear it out, it is going to start slipping.

the belt isn't worn at all and the belt only has ribs on one side (is that right?) The ribs are faced in too. It only seems like the back clutch is jamming.

Default clutch

sounds like the buttons in your driven or back clutch are broken and you have lost all your clutch spring pretension.
