With the miles and hrs I wouldnt go more than $1800
Even though these are tough machines they are not worth what he is asking.
I got a 2001 400 Sportsman for a $1500 dirt bike.

I agree that it's overpriced. Not sure where your from, that may be the reason for the higher price, some areas they go for high $$. Around here this what you can get for your money.

For reference...

I only wish we had the same prices as you guys!
I live in Norway, and that machine would be at least $5800 over here...

The 500 Magnum is a 500 sportsman with a straiat axle rather then IRS. The guy must of not ran 0w-40 full sythentic motor oil to were a cam out in 3500 miles, our 97 500 has 7500 miles.

Well I bought it for 2400 Maybe a little high but I'm in chicagoland and these things bring good money, Only help for me was I sold my 02 Bayou for 1600 So it wasn't that much a jump So these take 0W40 Synthetic? Glad I know that one, I have to buy a maunal for it to learn it. One more question are the brakes split on this machine or is the handle for just the front? I know there is a seperate rear lever on the footwell but it feels as it all 4 are stopping with just the handle.

Foot brake only works the back and is just a emergency brake if the main handle brake fails. it applies 60/40 pressure to the wheels ,60 being the front.
