700 efi needs rebuilt. I need ideas
I'm looking to rebuild a 700 efi. It isn't locked. Still runs on one piston. The other has no compression. So it looks like I have some work ahead of me. I don't want to spend more than 1k on it. It has a power commander pipe healclicker and 27 in tires. I was even wondering if I can up it to an 800 for the price. Anyone have any idea what I'm about to get into?

You would have to have the Polaris 700 "necessary" tool assortment to fully rebuild the engine properly. Some you could substitute, others not! Most of the tools needed concern the alignment of the oil pump, cam and crank gears. A manual will show what is needed and you can decide. OPT

i would get it and maybe apart to see what happened to the compression and then go from there. imo

I rebuilt the engine in my 02 700 with no specialty tools other than a torque wrench and a flywheel puller. The job isn't really that hard, and you could make it an 800 if you swapped the crank, pistons, and counterbalancer... You'd still be short of 800 power since you'd be lacking the 800 head and cam. I'd probably look for a good used complete 800 engine that you could swap. Otherwise i would imagine a rebuild going from a 7 to an 800 would be around 1k.
