Any one have any Titan 489's on ther quad ? If so what do you think of them?

PADZZ Feb 28, 2001 09:07 PM

Have them on my 335. Been through 3 front tires due to holes/flats. I'd never buy them again.

I have them. They are very good for traction in most situations, even mud. They are not the strongest tire out there, but they are alright. I did slice one of mine riding in a gravel pit. But it was fixable. Still have them after a year and a half.

Great for traction and floatation, Absolutlely terrible for puncture resistance, My bike has about 20 hours on it and a total of 5 punctures and repairs and one sidewall gouge from a stick, If I get a chance to wear these out before they shred themselves ill deffintley go with something else.

I have the 489's and love them, they grip when I want them to and they slide when I want them to. As for the punctures, I have had one in over a year, and you wouldn't believe the things I run over, but My next tires are going to be 589's.
How much pressure does everyone run in there 489's and does it make a difference.

489s came stock on my Scram. First time I went riding with them I got a flat from a nail. I slimed them all around and haven't had a problem since. I think they are a great all around tire from trails to mud to water etc.

The next set of tires I get will be the new 589 M/T in 25" all around and a pair of Prowedges for the back woohoo!!!!

Depends what type of riding your doing.489's are good till they start wearing a little then they start cracking and popping all the time.I do alot of mudding and some trail riding and after much reading and tred pattern searching I went with the Duro Excavator .There the perfect scrambler 4x4 tire, there aggresive tred but quite low profile for sliding on the roads and 4 ply with a six ply rating. You would have to try really hard to pop'em .
