I have a 2004 Sportsman 400 that when you let off the gas and stop, sometimes it has a hard time idling and will shut off. Any tips on problem.

Im gonig to be running some "Sea Foam" fuel system cleaner in it to see if that helps, but if anyone knows any other good tips let me know.
The atv has about 300 miles on it and is in great shape.

 

welcome to the forum. has it been sitting awhile like over the winter? wondering if the idle circuit or pilot jet is partaily pluged. how does it run when your going along? it might not hurt to clean the carb if it has been sitting or maybe check the tank for dirt. is the idle set too low(should be around 1150 rpms)to keep it running? just a couple of ideas

 

2004 with only 300 miles .........very low miles and now 6 years old........I would clean the carb and replace the spark plug first.....like Stendori said....Keep us up to date if you get it running correct......Caper........
