Fixing things that AREN'T broke

All,

I am ready to start on some wheeler maintenance after sitting idle all winter. I would like to
know you all's recommendation on changing out things and even replacing (belt?) on a 2008 with less than 300 miles. I know I need to do the Oil, gearcase, brake fluids, AWD too since I seen no spinning issues while AWD engaged, air filter

Anything else from a annual cleaning to its mileage?

Thanks all!

Looks like you have most of it covered but at only 300miles I would only do a belt inspection as it definitely should not need one that soon! If it were more like 3000 miles well you might want to think about it. Don't forget the air filte! and check you all you bolt and nuts for tightness!

unless you feel something wrong, i wouldn't even do a belt inspection. less times you pull that cover off the less chances are of messing up the gasket. you know if you burned the belt or not when you were stuck. don't forget the 5 grease fittings lol.

I am just doing a belt replacement this year on the 2006 Sp 450's..........I may not need them ,But at 3000 miles I want too do it.....Don't want a Rally week-end to be lost and the week-end be a bummer..........Caper............

I would not even look at a belt with 300 miles, also the brake fliud change would not be worth the air bleeding trouble, maybe look at the brake pads at most.

Caper even if your belt looks good you will feel a better engagement with a new OEM belt, I did.

Well said! Yea how true it is to forget to grease those 5 zerk fittings.

Any of you all replace the in-line breather filters? You never hear much about those but I would imagine just like the air filters they need replacing as often. I don't think you can maintain them much other than blow compressed air thru?

TLC how do you have the 5.26 gal tank? Was that the stock setup for the 01's back then or did you add a bigger tank?

Thanks,

Polaris always had the 5.25 tank from 96-02 then they just kept making them smaller for some cost cutting reason. The came out with 4.75, 4.25 and 4.1 tank later on. They returned to 5.25 with the new XPs.
