2002 cooling fan replacement

After some research and not wanting to spend 240 bucks on a new fan I went down to Advanced Auto parts and picked up a 10 inch universal rad fan. 56 bucks.
The electric motor is the same so I took the new one out, swapped the wires to the popo connector. Made sure it was turning the correct way as the new fan can turn both ways. Slid on the old fan blade. You do need to shim the old blade so the motor spins it properly. I used 2 brad nails, tapped them in and then cut them off to desired length. Bolted my new fan on then took it off for a test run. No more overheating, fan turned on and off with the thermostat. I am ready to roll.
I did put a little bit of silicon where the wires come out but the new fan is sealed just like the polaris oem.
They sell 12,14,and 16 inch fans as well.

Nice job....

Also, SPAL (the maker of the oem polaris fan) SPAL USA

The stock oem fan should have a number on it. Reference it on the site above for the correct fan and then ebay serach. I found a direct fit fan on ebay for my 2000 for $59 shipped. It's all sealed for ATV use as well. Thought I'd reply to this thread to help any future people who search for a fan issue.
