If this true was reading RZR 2011 info new engine 950cc & MORE INFO!

New for 2011

The soon to be released 2011 model lineup is sure to shock the current ATV and UTV industry. When Polaris Industries introduced the Ranger RZR model in 2008, they changed the way side by side vehicles were perceived. No longer were they just considered farm implements or job site work vehicle, they brought the "Sport" aspect to the market. Once again they are changing the market for 2011 with their new RZR lineup. Polaris is carrying over the names and models from the 2010 model year, but each model is getting a few substantial changes due to more competition from other manufacturers.

The 2011 standard RZR will still be 50" trail compliant, but it will be getting upgrades in a few departments. There will be 3 motor choices for the 2011 RZR, an EFI 500cc twin cylinder will be offered with a base price of $6799.

This new economy based RZR is for the owner who wants a sporty side by side but doesn't want the high price that comes along with one. The 800 H.O. engine will be the standard motor in the new RZR, which is carried over from the previous model year RZR-S.

And an all new EFI 950 (941cc) twin cylinder power plant will be available in the spring of 2011 for the Limited Edition and Special edition RZR's (pricing is TBD).

All of the 2011 RZR's feature an all new frame, which is 6" longer than the previous models to accommodate the new engine choices. Polaris engineers boast that the new frame is 60% stronger than the previous models. The 2011 Polaris RZR-S, and RZR-4 share the option of the 950 engine along with the SE and LE RZR's, along with the 800 H.O. engine from previous model years.

The suspension travel is increased to 14" on both models due to a new trailing arm setup in the rear, and longer A arms in the front. All 2011 RZR models will have a ROPS certified roll cage made from 1 3/4" chromoly tubing, along with 4 point racing harness style restraints. A few cosmetic changes are evident on all new models which include new styled plastic fenders, a redesigned roll cage, and a more aggressive styled front end.

The new Polaris 950 engine is going to be used in multiple platforms, from the Ranger RZR models to the new 3 wheel "Striker" road bike, which will be released in the summer of 2010. The 950 engine is rated at an impressive 97 horsepower and 76 ft-lbs of torque."

Now that's what the RZR needs.....It will be fun without question. I've always said I'd convert when they hit 100hp, and this is close enough for me :)

Wonder when they'll be released.....

Where did you find that article, do you have a link. Did they mention anything about new ATVs ?

I am interested in the same.

:)

MIwolvy 07-13-2010 08:01 PM

That information came from Wikipedia, it is FAKE! Do you really think Polaris would choose Wikipedia to make their official announcement for their 2011 lineup?

It was all started as a joke...came from this thread on RZR forums, page 43 is where the prank began:

NEVER get OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS before the meetings.

How do you know it is wiki??

MIwolvy 07-13-2010 08:08 PM

I was sitting at work today bored out of my mind...I'm not an office person, so 8 hours in front of a computer was driving me insane (once a year, all of the field workers have to do a month in the office as the Assigner/scheduler). I had to find something to keep myself from falling asleep, this was a way to stir the pot a little bit over at RZR forums and amuse myself while at work...I never imagined this would get so big so fast. If you read the link that I posted above, you can see how/where I got the idea (I go by Langford on that forum). I never thought it would go beyond that forum, but this information was spread across about a dozen forums within a few short hours, and the original edit I did on Wikipedia was deleted within 2 hours.

My hats off to you for being so creative, yet so detailed in the "rumour". Now, the pain and agony of having to wait until the last week of July for the meetings to find out the real deal.

I am not an office guy either, so I hear oyu on the boredom of being in front of a computer./ No offense to the office crowd on here.

:)

MIwolvy 07-13-2010 08:26 PM

Well...I can't give any more details (because I really don't have much more of anything to share), but don't expect anything near as cool as what I posted from Polaris...at least not for 2011. A few changes, but nothing drastic. I will gladly be sticking with my 2009 RZR-S.

Do you have an inside source??

If so, I have a question for you.

I honestly wish I did. All I have seen is rumors and speculation over at RZRforums.net. I'm going to be sitting in front of my computer all day on the 27th to get the real scoop myself.

I took a big enough hit when I dumped my 2008 RZR for my 09 S...I won't be doing that again anytime soon. So regardless what they release, I'm going to stick with what I have and be happy (but an aerocharger will likely be in my future to keep up with the new Can Am and whatever Polaris releases...if anything).

cc1999 07-13-2010 08:33 PM

You had me, except for the part about the 3 wheel road machine, that stuck me as a little fishy, congrats on the very convencing first part. The price for the 500 did seem a little low, but the details were limmitted so I didn't pay a whole lot of attention to the price being so low. Hats off to ya, on a well exicuted prank. LOL

FunRide 07-14-2010 02:40 PM

It's BS

This whole post is BS. The guy who wrote it up as a WIKI admitted to making it all up "just for fun". There is zero verified information about the new RZRs out at this time. Don't get your hopes up for 100hp. I was ready to sell my XP for 100hp RZR  Would love to have both, but that would be a hard sell to the wife. --Apparently there is a lot of updates coming to the '11 RZR, but not quite what has been falsely advertised (above).

As a side note: In my search for RZR information I found out where HighOctane is hiding these days. Many of you will remember him, others maybe not, but he's now got himself an RZR. The man uses machines like toilet paper.

And with that, the thread goes into lockdown.

No useful information.
