Oil & Fluid Change Kit w/ different PN's
 

I bought an oil & fluid change kit from BreeseLawnGarden POLARIS SPORTSMAN RANGER XP TWIN OIL & FLUID CHANGE KIT: eBay Motors (item 290406812533 end time Sep-22-10 14:48:24 PDT).

It's description lists "This kit is designed for all Polaris twin cylinder engines like the 600/700/800 Sportsman machines 2002-2008 and the Ranger XP 700's. This kit comes with 2 quarts of Polaris 0w40 oil (2871281), 1 oil filter (2540086), 1 quart of angle drive fluid (2876160) , one quart of Demand Drive Hub Fluid (2871654), 1 quart of gearcase lubricant (2873602), and 2 NGK BKR6E spark plugs."

The only PN's that match in my manual are the spark plugs and gearcase lubricant. I have a 2008 700 X2. Unless I can get some reassurance that these fluids ore ok I'm returning it and eat the $16.55 s&h.

I asked them about it and they said "The part number superceded quite a few times since the manuals but the fluids have just been combined

Just confused me more. I'm reading some really differing opinions about doing this but if I remember correctly from last nights searches "Old Polaris Tech", I think is the username, had no problems with these PN's. I'll have to find it again to be sure.

Stay with 0w-40 motor oil and the recommend "On demand" fluid is the way to go, but I thought the 700s don,t have the older locking twin hub set up? I think its a different AWD fluid for the newer locking single front diff system..

The rest is up to your preferences.

Polaris motor oil is a waste of your time and money. ANY good name brand synthetic oil is as good or useally better. Castrol Syntec, Mobile One or Amsoil will be fine.

Well Polaris motor oil is NOT a waste of my time and money(IMO) .....it works out to be the same price here in Canada as any other brand of Synthetic oil plus the filter with the kit ................And after investing over $16,000 dollars Canadian on two Sportsman's............Why question the oil??

Are you referring to the Angle Drive Fuild? Is the Angle Drive Fluid and the ADC fluid intended for different models? I can't see in my manual where it refers to Angle Drive Fluid.

Sooooo, I call a dealer 100 miles away to get all the oils listed in the manual for a 2-year service. I'm headed that way next week. I give her the ADC fluid # (2876144) and she says $16, oh wait that been superceeded to $9.50. Whats the part #? 2877922. I give her the demand drive fluid # (2876251). Thats been superceeded to the same part # as the ADC fluid. What?

If I didn't have 2 years left on my warranty I might not be so obsessive. I'm just gonna take it to my closest dealer 40 miles away. Called to get a rough estimate. They said $175. I said its for the 2-year service! He said $200. I know it will be much more. But at lease I'll have the part numbers of what they used for the next time.

Not sure about the single locking diff or ADC but the locking hub set up uses this stuff.
