Default tires 2011 sportsman 500

as some of you know I bought a new machine about 3 months ago I have put 670 miles on it as of tonight I ride a lot of different terrain rocks, mud, grass, gravel, unfortunately some pavement, snow during hunting season I want to keep stock rims what is a good all around tire that I can get for it I would say that the tires are at about 70% right now that came with it when I bought it

So many choices! How much do you want to spend? I think the stock carlisle ACT radials that came on my machine stock have performed very well in all conditions and their not to expensive. For a little more money I'd go for the Zilla's, big horns, terracross or mudlite XTR. You will pay a little more for the radials but it's well worth it IMO.

I was leaning towards the mudlites but have heard some less than ideal comments about them
I want to keep the same size as I dont want to worry about a clutch kit or any other upgrades that would come with changing the tire size and thinking trying to keep 4 tires and a rim (front one is dinged from a tree) around $500-600

That may depend on if your talking about the bias ply mudlite which I had on my 02 magnum and they were just slightly better than the stock 489's IMO. Or if your talking about the XTR radials which I think are leaps and bounds ahead. Big difference. If you want to keep it light and stick with a bias ply, I can't think of any thing better than something like the Zilla.

I have ridden other atv's with the mudlites and have heard nothing but good things. The Zilla's are always talked about highly as well. For a stock size all around tire I have GBC dirt devil II's and they have been good. The Zilla's run a little small and my DD II's were very close to size and they were very reasonable. I paid $55 a tire.

if I go with radials what is the weight difference? is it significant? will it slow me down any? what about wear on belts and clutches?

I really liked my Carlisle ACTs and I am very impressed with my new STI Black Diamond XTRs.
