help with 1992 Polaris Xplorer 4x4
Hello all,
This is my first post and I am hoping for some advice.
I have a 1992 Polaris Xplorer 400 4x4 that has sat in the yard for several years. I cleaned the carburetor and drained the fuel tank. I can start it and it idles fine, however I can't get the gear shift to move.
It is possible that I need to do something in order for the gear shift to move, but it's been so long since I ran this thing that I can't remember. Or there may be a problem with the shifter, transmission or whatever.
Any suggestions, comments or etc.?
Thanks

Explorer 400 came out in 1995.Is the shifter frozen/locked up,grinds while trying to place in gear?? Could be anything from shifter linkage locked up at the shift box,clutch/belt problem, along with needing fresh fluid in the gear case, etc. If the shift box linkage feels looked up,the linkage ends can be removed at the shift box, make sure the shift lever is in neutral, turn the adjuster ends until they drop straight into the shift levers and tighten the lock nuts. Then see if you can shift it. http://www.cyclepartswarehouse.com/f...1995&fveh=5404
