why would that big ol' 650 be limited to 606 lbs. is it because of the size of the engine and the mostly aluminum construction or another more sinister reason?? do you think the sp700 will also be held to such idiotic standards??

The American manufacturers don't abide by the ANSI limit. Look at the Polaris & Arctic Cat their top machines are well over this limit. The Japanese manufacturers do abide by this limit.

Why? I don't know.

I beleive it's because Polaris and Arctic-Cat weren't producing quads at the time the standards were made.

its my guess as this is one of the reason that the kawie650 has been delayed. there making a quad that is the same weight as the prarie 400, but has a bigger engine and more bells and whistles. Somewhere they have to cut the weight. i just hope it doesnt affect reliability.

i think the agreement is for all manufactures except polaris, Artic Cat and Bombardier. i think the Ansi agreement puts thoes manufactures at a disatavantage. they have to cut weight and keep the bells and whistles to a minimum.

if Bombardier signed the agrement i think they would be fined BIG time for the traxter, its Very overweight, even more than the HO.
