So the sealant worked! I basically applied a bead of this high temp sealant on both sides of the doughnut gasket, put it together and held it together with a bungee cord for the night, then reassembled properly with new springs. Quiet as can be now!

That said, I've been all through the machine now. Every fluid changed, all fittings greased. New CV boot on LH front outer CV. New NOCO battery maintainer. New LT3000 Superwinch with synthetic rope.

I also upgraded the low beams with a set of 18W LED lights....killer light output with a fraction of the watts!

Just got blinded by the lights. Good looking machine to be 15 years old.. Also glad the pipe is sealed and quiet and hopefully that old Fugi engine can last a lot more years.

Thanks!

I've spent some time cleaning it up. It had been sitting in a canvas garage thing for a few years before I got it. It was a mess, but it ran! My uncle (original owner) had it covered with old registration stickers, a couple of funny stickers, and a few poorly done mods. I basically stripped everything off, cleaned it, returned the machine to bone stock, and started over.

I'm really close with my Uncles younger son. He's amazed how his dads machine came out! He always said his dads place was where nice things went to die....now he says my place is where nice things come back to life....haha.

All in all I've enjoyed the project, and now I have a great wheeler and NO PAYMENTS!!

I'm hoping to start a sport wheeler project sometime soon....stay tuned!

Hah! That's great! Glad to see how good it came out. Know you completely stripped back this one to stock, so for the sport wheeler project could be good to check out the performance axles on AmericanCVStore (if you're going with an ATV). Have fun, and look forward to the progress pics!
