Front spindle nut tightness?
#1
I took my axle out of the hub to clean all the grease out after I tore a boot with fishing line. In the manual it says to let the dealer tighten the spindle nut. Has anyone performed this themselves? I tightened it back really firm but not REAL tight. Anyone know the general torque specs for this. General guide line? Any help or reply appreciated.

On the 4x4s Axle nut Torque has a direct affect on the engagement of the 4 wheel drive system its not a teribly critical setting I have seen from 70 to 80 in diffrent manuals. Would go out to the shop for mine but once again its raining, Hurricane Dennis you know.

I checked the other side and it was about 20-25 ft lbs so this is what I torqued the side to that I was working on. Engagement seems as smooth and at the right time as normal so far, course I haven't taking it out yet. It says in the manual that it's a dealer performed service and was critical to get it right. It just concerns me for it to be right. If it says 70 - 80 ft lbs, I wonder why the other side was only 25 ft lbs? Hmmm. Any other comments welcome!
