Hello!

Well, I bought my 1999 SP500 new in September of 1998. So far, the machine is excellent and NO PROBLEMS.

I have replaced all brakes at about 900 miles as well as replaced the outer tie rod ends (the steering had gotten loose). I also had the machine serviced 2 times by my dealer. For a sheet from the dealer you can go to www.pflueger.com/atv

I have 1,200 miles already on my machine! I ride the thing every weekend as well as sometimes during the week after work to blow off steam so to say...

Now, I know what the manual says, but have you guys done anything with your valves like having the dealer check/align them?

So, that's about it...I'd be interested to find out if any other 99 SP500 owners have as many miles as me!

Take care,
Bob

Hey Bob, glad to hear you’ve had such good luck with your Sportsman, me too. I bought my Remmington Edition ’99 SP500 in late April this year and just hit 1100 miles last weekend. We Ride. The wife’s ’00 Magnum 325 has just as many miles on it (no odometer, but where I go she goes).

The Magnum’s had one set of brakes all around at 1000 miles. My Sportsman needed a set of rear brakes at 550 and all around at 1100 (yesterday). I also adjusted the throttle cable on both yesterday (took the slack out of the throttle lever). Other than oil changes (one at 250, one at 750 and every 500 miles after that) I’ve done nothing but keep’em greased, watch the fluid levels and clean the prefilters every two weeks.

It’s my understanding that the water-cooled motors shouldn’t need the valves adjusted for lots’a miles. I wouldn’t worry about it unless they’re tapping unusually loud.
