Default Polaris 5/50 oil ????

I just bought a polaris fluid service kit.Its for a 2004 Sportsman 400 425cc
I thought the engine was to use 0/40 oil? Is the 5/50 oil ok for this engine ?????? Thanks in advance Note the oil was included in the service kit

Yes it's ok to use.Polaris doesn't even make 0w40 anymore.Mobil 1,Amsoil still make 0w40 if you want change back next oil change.0w40,5w40,5w50 is ok to use and most common oils.Polaris even has an extreme 10w50 for high temp areas,so I wouldn't worry about it.

This is who for years blended Polaris branded oils. Don't know if they still do or have added additional suppliers. Stands to reason they would have used a northern company in the beginning.Home

Polaris dropped the 0W-40 and called for that odd ball 5W-50 weight to prevent people from buying aftermarket oils. 0w-40 worked great for years before that.

Now that Mobile1 is also making 5W-50 you will see Polaris come out with a 3W-45 .LOL

Man if you can find it that cheap send me a case. Napa down here wants $9.67 a quart, don't even have by the 6 pack. Same for Auto zone and O'Reilly.Even ebay is ridiculous on the 6 packs. Cheapest I've found is $52.88 through Amazon for the 6 pack.

It was in the last sale flyer , plus it helps the owner is a good friend , but I know he didn't lose any money at that price .
