03 sportsman 700 Thermal sensor
 

Not sure I can do this but I bought a replacement thermal sensor 03 sportsman 700. it is the correct replacement # My problem lies in The original only had one wire coming from it. The new one has two. I did a continuity test on it and neither wire is grounded. Can I just take both wires and put them together and splice to my original single wire?

It should just plug into the connector on one end and then attached by the wheel on the other end. there shouldn't be any splicing involved...??

If you're talking about the temp sensor in the head,sounds like they sent you one from a later model 800 that had a two wire connector. It grounds out when it reaches 110 degrees completing the circuit to the hot light. If you're talking about the sensor at the radiator(4010161) shows it's the still a two wire system also. A Wells sw526 at Autozone($25) can be used for this,just cut the wires and use your oem connector.

Yea apparently I am an idiot. LoL I ordered the wrong part but for the life of me i cant find what part this is in any of the parts manuals. Of course I could be blind. It looks just like the temp sensor but only has one wire coming from it and is mounted to the engine right above the Antifreeze reservoir and to the left of the oil dipstick. https://www.flickr.com/photos/jackgiljr/17370416782/
