02 trailboss 325 modding?
I have an '02 trailboss 325 and I'm wondering if I can modify the original parts to obtain higher performance without buying many new parts. Is this possible?
:hmmmm: |
Clutch kit could help.Products - ATV / UTV - Clutch Kits - Polaris - 325 - Trail Boss - EPI

I had a 2000 model.
Like OPT said, a clutch kit. You can get an aftermarket exhaust. I did on mine. Don't think it really gave it a ton of power, but it did sound a whole lot better. These are heavy, lower powered machines. If you're trying to keep up with the sport models or bigger bores, I can tell you out in the open it won't happen. But, get the clutch kit and nice set of tires and you'll be surprise how well it sticks with them on trails and through some of the mud. Some dielectric grease on the electrical system and it can go swimming in a few spots I didn't think mine would. |

Has to be one of my favorite pictures of the old Boss.
This was after it was trailered 150 miles. I should have taken a picture when we got back to camp. And this was with the crappy stock tires. |
Thanks
Ok, thanks, I'll have to try looking into a clutch kit. As far as tires...well the ones on it are original and have almost no tread, I had new ones but they wouldn't hold air when I put them on, for now though I'll probably just stick with the ones I have, they let me slide around the corners pretty well anyway.

i had the 00 model also and truthfully i liked it but like you, i wanted to mod it...like scooter and OPT said, a clutch kit will help and the other thing i did was go up in rear sprocket size and down in rear tire size..it will be quicker on the low end and i could do donuts on dry pavement(lol) but ya really gotta lean into it...anyways, thats about all i could find to do to mine
ive since graduated to a scrammy 500 HO and LOVE it;) |
Forgot I did a sprocket change too.
Mainly because a rock took three teeth off the front and broke half a link on the chain. Not even sure how it managed to make it back to camp with the chain like it was. Was a good excuse to buy two new sprockets, a chain and a new set of brakes to avoid the next rock. And what happens on the next ride after the changes? Nephew hits me in the back "because I stopped so fast". New tail light. |
Clutch kit would help I'm sure but its still just a 325cc engine. A Scrambler 500 has a lot more power with the added benefit of 4x4 which the Trailboss never had. By the time you spend enough money to make the Trailboss noticably faster, you could have sold it and bought a Scrambler.
