Coolant change...anything else??

Doing a coolant change soon.....My manual says nothing about the thermostat, should I change or leave it be??

I'm just going to pop the lower rad hose off at the block and flush that way... Any other tips?

I'm a believer, if it ain't broke leave it alone. The thermostat in my Dodge hemi has been in for 12 years and 335,000 miles. Check the correct way to fill your machine, some ATV's like to have the ass end raised while you refill. I put my AC's rear ends up on jackstands and keep filling till it's full, drive around and recheck a couple times.

My thought exactly! I don't want to create a problem, so I will leave it be.

Polaris like to be nose up to purge air out. Thank you.

Only thermostat I can remember replacing was one that cause overheating in a Sportsman 700. Only reason I replaced it was because the pin that moved when it opens and closes lodged sideways keeping it from opening fully when hot. Could have possibly popped the pin back in place and reused it,but didn't take the chance.Other that freak deal most will last the life of the machine, but people always seemed to question thermostats first whenever they have an over heating problem and not dirty, stopped up radiators, weak or bad fan motors or trapped air in the cooling system.

NAPA (I'm sure others as well) sells a coolant additive that drops the temp @ 10-20 degrees as well. Put it in my 1000 and definitely works!

We sold a lot of Engine Ice to our cross country riders that swore by it,but it is pricey.

Engine Ice and the cold do not get play well together. I ride mine all year and it sleeps outside under a cover.

I'm using Peak - Gotta help out John Force. :)
