Just wanted to update this... got the gaskets in Wednesday, buttoned everything up Friday evening and she fired up on the first turn of the key!!
The Crank position sensor was bad... but was bad by the stator case was filled with oil by the cracked stator case.
All is good now, took her for a spin and she ROARS!

Glad it was just the cps and not the stator also.
