called rm stator yesterday the cdi box is out of stock and the shipment of new ones will be in on the end of the month. so prob looking at mid may till I get one but will post if this is the fix.

new cdi box came in yesterday RM02176 a replacement for OEM 3089978. installed and had spark fired up and ran ok but most likely i need to clean the carb as its been siting for years.

Glad it's finally running. Ethanol fuel can eat up rubber tipped float needles and gum up jets.May be better to install a kit rather than to just try cleaning a carb and possibly have to go back in again if it's not running right.100% MIKUNI CARBURETOR CARB REBUILD/REPAIR KIT FOR POLARIS 2006 HAWKEYE 2X4 | eBay

People are selling some on amazon that they say fit a Hawkeye 300 but may not be the right year. You could look there then check with the manufacturers.
