2001 Polaris Xplorer 400 No Spark
My first post, I've been reading other posts and they have been helpful, but I still haven't found an answer.
I have a 2001 Xplorer 400 2 stroke that refuses to throw a spark. Here is what I have done: Replaced plug with fresh NGK BR8ES gapped at .032" Replaced CDI unit with aftermarket Replaced coil, wire and cap Pulled black wire from kill switch These are the readings I have taken following the troubleshooting guide from Polaris Service Manual: 1) Coil ground to engine ground-0 ohms 2) Exciter or Charge coil resistance-R to BLK/R 228 ohms(228 Required) 3) Trigger coil resistance-W to W/R 99.5 ohms(97 required) 4) Y to grd-0 ohms 5) R to grd-0 ohms 6) W to grd-0 ohms 7) Coil primary side (tab to grd) .9 ohms, .3-.5 allowed 8) Coil Secondary side 6200 ohms cap removed 9) Cap installed 11,200 ohms 11,300 allowed All values allowed +/- 20% Also checked for 12VDC at W/BLU wire from CDI box, got nothing with key on or cranking. Also re-installed old CDI unit to compare, still no spark. I know various "no spark" situations have been covered previously but I am stumped. Any help? What am I missing? Would I be a candidate for the RMStator DC conversion? Opinions please. Thanks in advance John |
