Hey everyone, so i have been slowly replacing things on my 00 xped and it is still costing me money but i will continue to get it fixed but i also came across an 04 sportsman 700 twin with only 7000 miles for 3450, which i think is a good deal i get to pick it up tomorrow, but dont worry i am keeping the xped!

are there any issues with the 04 700 that i should be aware of?

Early carb models until 2/23/03 had the troublesome Ducati ignition.After that they had the more reliable Kokusan ignition system. Only way to tell is to pop the front panel and see if it has a combo cdi/coil (Ducati) or a separate cdi and coil (Kokusan) If it's an efi model,occasional sensor wiring harness problem,but no big deal for the most part. Plenty of them still out there and going strong. Get a manual so you can keep up with service and repairs.Polaris ATV Service Manuals PDF Download

one more thing are the 700's more front wheel lift happy on steep inclines than the xped?

Considerably more power and torque than the Xpedition. Either one can get you hurt. It's all in how much thumb pressure on the throttle.. :)

thanks i was hoping that was the main thing where we ride is not exactly beginner level trails for sure!

Thanks, i have posted here a few times seems like a great community and it is really cool to have a place with so much experience!!

ok so i bought the 04 700 last night and i have a few questions. 1, it has an exhaust leak at the head i think, is this hard to fix? 2. the low beam light work but when i switch to high no lights work ( i have not checked the bulbs yet). 3. how do you clear the maintenance light on the dash? i rode it a bit it is pretty powerful for sure it has EFI which is a plus and date of manufacture is 12-05-03 so i believe it should have the good ignition on it other than the above things it needs a seal at the diff and valve cover but that is no biggie and with 7000 mi i think i got a pretty good deal on it now i just have to learn how to ride it LOL, thanks
