2010 Polaris Sportsman 500 there was absolutely no pressure in the frontbrake lever. I just did bearings and new pads (the pads were down to metal and caliper pistons moved freely) and I cannot get them to bleed. Pulled Reservoir cap and filled. pump brakes held brake open bleeder screw got a good stream did that about 10 times per side while filling the reservoir. After I pump the brakes a handful of times the reservoir squirts out fluid a constant stream for about 5 Seconds. Is that normal. I also tried using pump bleed kit.

 

Could be trash build up in the piston chamber area,piston seals worn,sucking air. 94 bucks for a piston/seal rebuild kit,but cheap master cylinders for 27 bucks on ebay.If a mityvac doesn't help,possible it is a master cylinder problem. It's been a few years since I bleed brakes on an ATV and u remember it was a pain. So just to make sure im.doing this right.
Take cap of master and leave off, fill it, pump lever and hold. crack bleeder for a second and repeat.
Why am I getting a constant stream shooting up out of master after I pump? No air bubbles.

Shouldn't I be able to get some pressure out of fronts before I touch rear? Or do I have to do tgis proper on all 3 calipers just to starr building pressure??
I would think doing only the front calipers a dozen times or so it would build some sort of pressure...

 

Just got back out to the garage and pulled the rear wheel off, found a puddle of brake fluid in the lip of the rim! Pulled it apart and sure enough the inside pad is completely gone, piston was all the way out and ground down. So used caliper or rebuild kit is being ordered.
When I picked this quad up, previous owner was not mechanically inclined whatsoever. I pointed out all the issues that it had which he knew nothing about. He just rode it lol. He did say rear brake quit working and then eight after that the fronts stopped working hence the no pressure in hand lever.
I thought the rear wasn't working due to missing pin and got her pin that holds the foot lever. It currently just drops when you lift it up. Waiting on pin.

So im assumimg this is the reason my fronts wont pressure up at all? Seeing how the hand lever is front and rear combined??

I can get this complete Aftermarket caliper and just swap them out rather than the rebuild kit??

 

Brake pads and piston worn down and leaking,yes cheaper to go with a new caliper than to mess with rebuilding an old one.A piston/seal kit alone would cost as much as that aftermarket caliper. 45 bucks on an after market caliper assembly versus 180 bucks for an oem caliper..I'd have to go that way myself if I was doing it.

 

Sounds good, they are also in my local city. So I should have it by tues. Hopefully that's the only issue and I can bleed the brakes when it's done.

 

Ok opt I installed new rear caliper and I got the hand brake lever bleed. I took look at the foot brake and when you push down on the foot pedal, there is absolutely no pressure, it bottoms out hitting the the footwell. So I noticed thst the brake pedal just contacts the plunger for the rear brake line, it is bottomed out hitting the floorboard at the same time therefore can't put any pressure on the plunger to pressure the fluid. Have you seen this before?

 

Well i unbolted the rear master cylinder so I could get a better look and the plunger wouldn't budge so I used some wd40 and some steel wool. Got it moving again but it doesn't always return once it's pressed in. Shouldthis move freely or is it not returning because the line isn't bleed? I tried bleeding it 5 times but only got fluid to come out the bleeder once.

 

Sounds like you still have air in the line,or the small master cylinder is sucking air and can't build up pressure.These are too cheap to mess with. 15 bucks or so on ebay or amazon. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Rear-Brake-...pYxj6r&vxp=mtr
