Default 2001 scrambler 500 2x4 carburetor settings

Thia question is aiming at "oldpolaristech" since his knowledge is amazing. Just joined the forum but have seen his name.in so many Internet searches about my wheeler. Anyways, I have taken apart and cleaned my.carb multiple times, setting float hieght and general cleaning. My last ride my ride started acting like it was super rich, wouldnt run good unless WOT . Got it home , didnt mess with it for a week. Tried to start it again and long story short it flooded so bad I had gas coming out of the exhaust. Ended up buying a new caltric carburetor since it was only 15 more than a rebuild kit. I want to know stock settings for the 2 adjustable jets on the carb so I dont have to keep messing with it after I put it on. I have a hotseat performance slip on muffler, ended up custom bending a 2" exhaust pipe from the header pipe back to muffler . It has a clutch kit ( before I got it, but it wont move in reverse with a brand new polaris belt and clutches cleaned and sanded with120 grit sandpaper unless I push override button). I have done countless other mods but none effect engine performance. I bought new oil ( m1 0-40) nd filter, and a new ngk bkr6e since it flooded so bad I can smell gas in my oil. The intent is to put some oil down plug hole and use old iridium plug untill its running smoothly and then put in my new plug. Reason behind this is in my experience, too mucj flooding will wash oil off piston rings and drop compression, so adding oil ups compression and lubricates cylinder until the crank splashes it on cylinder. my altitude is just under 1500 feet., so anyone have advice on carb settings to gwt me damn close to good to go first time around?

welcome to the Polaris forum. it's with great sadness to report that OPT has past away. it sounds like if it's flooding that bad that the float might have stuck open. didn't the carb kit come with new setting for the carb so it wouldn't run lean with more free flowing?

Thats sad to hear, opt was a wealth of information that helped alot of people .
As for the new carb, I wanted to double check settings on carb before I install it today. Guess I will be doing it the old fashioned way, by trial and error lol. Jist a PITA toget to carb, so I wont be putting my plastics back on untill I get it right.

I hear you. any time I use to mod my toys it was always trial and error. I even melted one side of a triple snowmobile because the mag side was so much hotter.
