Default 2006 Polaris scrambler 500 shifting problem

Hey guys I was wondering if you could tell me anything about a problem I’m having with my scrambler 500? It always grinds into gear. If I start it and have it in neutral it grinds with a big clunk to get it in forward or reverse and I was wondering if anyone has had the same problem and how to fix it?

first thing you want to rule out is the clutch already tuning while in neutral from the belt being engaged. if so, then that's the major issue.

Thanks for replying. How would I check this problem and if so, what would I need to do to fix it?

Take the clutch cover off. Put ATV in neutral. Start engine. See if driven clutch is spinning. It shouldn't be until you give it some gas. When you let off the gas it should slow to a stop.

Ok I did this and they both turn in neutral. What can I do to fix this?

Do you have the correct Polaris OEM belt? If not, get one. If you do, there are a couple of other things I can think of that could be wrong. Start with the simple thing first.

most likely if the belt is correct then the ebs bushing is gone in the primary clutch which was a common issue.

The belt is OEM. Do you have any other ideas?

Can you put a new bushing in? Or do you have to buy the whole thing?
