Exhaust Painting - 400HO/500HO?
Looking to paint the exhaust on my 400HO next spring - has anyone done this to their 400/500? What I want to know is will those heat shield bolts snap? I sanded mine down real good and used a baroque black paint so it would hold better. I would guess you would need a good torch set(with oxygen) to get the bolts hot enough to take the shield off. you might try PB blaster spray on them and let them set after a few different spraying to eat the rust if you don't have tanks to heat it up.

A friend said run it till its good and hot, thrn a proane torch and they will come out. im going to run VHT engine on the pipe, VHT ceramic exhaust and hit it all with VHT clear. |
you can try the propane torch, but I would be surprised if it comes out with out using an acetylene/oxygen torch, but good luck.
