MAG 500 OWNERS (REAR BRAKE QUESTION)
#1
I was outside today trying to find the grease fitting in the rear end of my bike (which I never did find). I had it jacked up so I could get a better look. For no reason, I was spinning the rear wheels, which weren't spinning very freely. I was just wondering if this was normal or if my rear brake was holding. I could turn the wheel but it was somewhat harder than what I think would be normal. Any imput on this would be appreciated. Thanks for your time.

Most of that drag was likly due to turning the driveline as you were turning the wheel. Example, Rear end , Drive shaft, Transmission if it was in gear. Try and notice if there is any noise coming from the brake that would indicate dragging before you service it.

Kagey,
Because I have a hard time hearing, I didn't notice any noise when I was spinning it. After I read your reply, I brought my brother out to listen to it and he said there was noise coming from the brakes. I guess that's the problem. Thanks for you imput. Now I have to figure out how to loosen up the pads. While I'm at it, I noticed from day one that it would take a while for the belt to ingage whenever I would hit the gas. Would this be a reason why? Thanks for the information.

This could have some bearing on your slow engagement. The Magnum Engages around 1150 Rpm which is reletivly quick. Look on your brake caliper for a screw I suspect it will be allen Head ,it will be on the back this is used to set the pad clearance if you are tight back it out and see if it helps. I have never had to replace the pads on a Magnum yet so I have not set one as yet but I assume they adjust like the other Polaris Brakes.
