Howdie,
I am sorta ashamed to tell this, but I have not ridden in over 2 months. I went out into the shop to do some piddling and noticed that the front left tire of my Scrambler 400 4x4 was flat. After further inspection, hub oil (alot!) has leaked into the inner portion of the wheel and down the inside of the tire. It's been there long enough to ruin the factory titan tire. The rubber is mushy, hence the flat tire. What could have caused this? I recently changed the hub oil and did it per the Service Manual. The bike is an 00' model and has'nt been ridden hard in almost a year...........(been in college) Now that I am finished, I am ready to roll but the 400 is not. Any suggestions as to what is wrong b/f I go tearing into the hub assembly? Thanks for the time, EC |
did you use polaris hub oil? some people have leaks after changing to ATF or synthetic oil.

Glad to see your back QuadBuster! Long time no speak...
Mine do the same thing sometimes. They leak then one ride later they are fine. I just fill them up and hope for the best. That seal must get moved around alot. I am getting the beast back from the dealer tomorrow...can't wait to try her out again! |
my x-plorer 300 4X4 did that. from the inside part of the hub right??. it's the inner hub seal. a little round doughnut shaped thing. costs like $12 at the polaris dealer, and not too bad to replace either, took me and my dad like an hour.
