I bought a Scrambler 90 a few months ago for my 7 year old son. He has ridden it hard for probably 20 hours total. I am curious about the injected oil consumption. The level doesnt seem to go down. I am worried that the engine is not getting enough oil. Does anybody have a similar experience and/or is this normal?[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif[/img]

i have the 50cc.
consumes very little oil, just like your 90! sure seems to smoke a lot.(i've been told that's normal for a two stroke) i've had the 50 for a few months and it's been perfect! (the kids just love to scratch those fenders!) LOL MT |
Other problems I've had:
The Oil cap doesnt stay on. It will pop off while riding and shower the exhaust pipe with oil. The Gas cap cracked The steering tie rod bolts came loose and caused a crash which broke the break lever off after it rolled. Have you had any similar or different problems? |
I wouldnt worry that much about the injection, just look for a bluish tint to the smoke and you should be all set, I have a blaster w/injection and I fill the oil tank mabe once a month (hardly seems like it uses any at all) and I do ALOT of riding. And thats 100+cc's bigger..

Our Sportsman 90 is the same way.....very little oil but smokes like a barfly. Thanks for the tip on the steering!

I have a Scammy 400 '01 and I have notice very little consumption. I have talked to other people who say not to rely on the oil pump and that we should continue to pre-mix the oil and fuel at 16 oz to 4 gallons. Since the dealer didn't pre-mix I have done that on two tanks. I am almost to my third tank and will skip it this time.

I bought my Sportsman 90 in mid-May. Starting with a full tank of gas, and a full tank of oil, it used 3-1/2 tanks of gas until the low-oil light on the dash came on. I used a 5-cell flashlight to check the oil level in the oil tank and found it to still be approximately half full. The SP90 doesn’t use a lot of injection oil, but Polaris (Aeon) seems to have erred on the side of caution. Better to have the low-oil light come on way too early, than even a minute too late.
