Unless you want to mess with the secondary clutch, and sprockets, DO NOT get the 3" longer swingarm.

Why what do you have to do to run 3 or more?

Sporty 400 2x4,

I should have said 3" or longer swingarms.

I added a 3"+ swingarm to keep the front wheels on the ground a little better than the stock swingarm was doing. My machine doesn't have any handling problems, if anything it's more stable on hill climbs. The problem is the rear wheels want to spin too much for my taste. That's why I told Chunky 5678 to get a shorter swingarm than 3". Believe it or not, 3" makes a world of difference on weight distribution. Perhaps, I should have been more specific.

But is 3 enough with full race mods? I know of the local HPD race mod guy with 6 over but he cant turn 10 paddels is he low on power, because if the swingarm was to long he would be spinning the crap out of them. I will be running 10 paddle haulers when she hooks i want the front to stay down and on pavment i feel it will be hard to keep down with only 3 but i never rode one setup that way so i dont know. but rember im only 125 pounds so not able to put to much weight on the front.

I'm not a big Polaris expert so if I say something stupid please don't laugh at me. I saw a Polaris Scramble 400 2x4 at the track that didn't have the struts. It just had the regular shock/a-arm set up of most sport/high performance quads. Until I got a good look at it I didn't even know it was a Scrambler and that thing was fast. It is prolly also the sweetest lookin Polaris I have ever seen, it had the front fenders shaved, aftermarket bumper, yellow a-arms with the regular shock setup instead of the struts,nerfs,18" tires, and aftermarket pipe. I'm sure there was much more but I didn't talk to the guy so I don't know. He got like 3rd or 4th place in the pro class though. It was awesome.

Sporty400,

I guess that would depend where you're riding. If you're shooting hills or doing sand dunes, then 3" might not be enough. If you're riding on dirt, it's more than enough. Paddle tires are a different ball game. I'm obviously talking about dirt, as there aren't too many sand dunes here in good old central Pa.

Yo Daddy,

You were not dreaming, HPD makes a race chasis that uses double A-arms on the front. As I can recall it was an expensive proposition at around $10,000 per frame. So availability was limited to the cash you have. Needless to say most people have other uses for $10,000.

$10,000 might get you a used HPD race quad, add around $2500 more for a new one....worth EVERY penny. I mostly hit the trails hard through the woods. But this last summer I ran out at Silver Lake Dunes. The +2.5 swingarm works great in every arena...did I mention it's also lighter?

Ken,

Well, for $12,500 you can get the new Cannondale Moto, or get the Blaze and pocket $2000. I just can't see spending that much money on just a frame when these two "complete" quads are on the market.

But that's neither here or there. I'll never see $12,500 to spend on a quad unless I hit the lottery.

Wow, I have seen those frames and figured that they would be in the ball park of Leagers, Lone Star and Others which is generally around $4,000 for a frame or are you getting more than just a frame? I agree with Mike. For $12,000 theres a lot of Mods I can do to my trailblazer. Heck I could sale my trailblazer and buy the sports/scramblers and mod it to the hilt for less than $12,000.

Just a note that even though an "inch" may seem small it will make a big difference in the weight bias of your guad.

Hold on now. Mike, I'm sorry if I lead you to believe you only got the frame, that price was for a full machine. Wew, that would be spendy. I think their prices fluctuate with the different setups also. Sorry about that.

Yo Daddy, don't ever be afraid of someone laughing at you about a post. Everyone at one time or another was new here, we're all learning.

Ken
