What I meant about turning on the four wheel drive while you are moving is that the way it actuates the four wheel drive could be severly damaged if you happen to be spinning the rear wheels even the slightest bit. Their is actually a sliding sleeve that locks on your 4x4. That is the noise you hear when you turn it on. If you happen to be spinning the rear wheels when this engages, the sleeve would slide over and grind on its counterpart. Much like shifting an old Ford truck into 4x4 mode while spinning the tires.

I don't mean to sound like I'm trying to bash the Kodiak. It really is a solid machine. Probably the most trouble free quad Yamaha makes. I was just confused on how it had a better suspension than the SP400. The SP's are very fogiving when your landings are a little offset. The only real problem with jumping a SP is the fact that the struts weren't built for that and the machines weight is very noticable when air born. But you can't beat the landing, wether it is on one wheel first or all four. It is very forgiving.
