'02 Trail Boss
#1
Will be picking up 2 '02 Trail Bosses for my wife and I in a few weeks. Decided on the Boss after riding various machines knowing we won't be jumping, going through mud up to the seat, etc. Just want to enjoy some trail riding.
From what I read in these posts, the Boss seems like it will hold up nicely to the riding we expect to be doing. Would like to know your opinions on maintenance items to watch closely based on the experience of other Polaris owners.
Thanks in advance.

Hello,
Thought I'd toss in my 2 cents. Recently, I bought a Trail Boss and a Scrambler 400x. People I talked to, recommended having at least one of the machines have four wheel drive. So I went with that. The machines were for my son and I. I took my Dad out and withing five minutes of riding the Trail Boss, he was hooked. So last weekend I went and picked up a new Scrambler 500 4x4. In retrospect, I wished I would have bought a machine with four wheel drive, instead of the boss. It really is a nice machine, though. My Dad really likes it. But, I think you will wish you had one of those with 4x4. As far as maintenance goes. We grease it after every ride through the water and mud. I just changed the oil in it after 50 hours or so. Also, bought some good chain lube. You should learn how to adjust the chain on it, too. It's not hard, but something you will need to know. Hope any of this helps.
