my sp500 wont shift into gear , wont shift into other gears, but it does drive forward(not sure if it is high or low) the lights on the pod dont work either(nuetral or reverse)??? what could cause this what could this be???

Check your shifter linkage. DO you ever get it into nutral?

 

its not the linkage, i took the tranny out to replace a broken chain put everything back in and now it wont shift

i have a '01 sp500 also. i was wondering what kinda chain there is in the tranny that needed to be replaced?

There are two chains in the rear case on the sportsman's.....I believe greg sims broke his awile back also. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif[/img]

 

Sounds like you have a shift fork that didn't get lined up quite right inside the tranny.

 

ok sorry for that delay, i broke the forward chain, which is the big chain. there is also a reverse chain(smaller). but yea i have the tranny out now and cant seem to get the forks into the case right?? i will put the case on and then i wont be able to shift it(using a pair of pliers). please help me out if you can
