Magnum 325 or Sportsman 400???
#1
I plan on buying either a magnum 325 4x4 or a sportsman 400 in the next month or so. I was just wondering if you think it is worth the extra money. I am kinda leaning toward the sportsman. Please give me some input on the subject thanks for your time

I think the sportsman is a 500 or 700. The 400 is a 2 stroke called the Xplorer.
The 325 is a good quad. We have a 2002 2 wheel drive. I would add a good air filter and maybe an exhaust to boost the power. Other than that it will be a great machine to own.

The 400 Sportsman is a 4 stroke and it does have IRS. It does not have EBS though so I am told. I have the magnum 325 for my wife and it is a great machine it is just a little wimpy in the power department and the 400 Sportsman is the same way. The only thing you will gain with the 400 is the IRS so is that worth the extra money? I say get the 500 Sportsman andthen you will be happy for sure.

a friend has a 325 mag, and says it is under powered! i agree, that thing is slow, ok for your wife or child, but i wouldn't want one! it's the same physical size as the 500, and you're tring to get a 325 to carry the same weight...fork out the extra dough$$

I have an Xplorer, it is a 2 cycle (very snappy)
The Sportsman 400 is a 4 cycle, with IRS.
The Magnum 325 is a 4 cycle, no IRS.
Between the two, the 325 is S-L-O-W. Top speed may not be so bad, but it takes sooooo long to get there. Kind of feels underpowered for it's weight, as well. A good machine for puttering around with, and light to medium work, though. Top speed may be somewhere around 40-45, but acceleration is s-l-o-w.
The 400 Sportsman rides beautifully smooth. Not the fastest machine out there by any means, but will run circles around the 325. Almost as fast as the non-HO 500 Sportsmans used to be. An amazing trail rider, smooth as can be, and goes through about anything. Just don't expect to keep up with a HO or any other big-bore for that matter, unless maybe an A/C (they are geared low for work, not speed). Should hit about 50 or so top speed. The 500 HO will do between 55 & 60 topped out.

S-L-O-W? mine does 55. I don't care wat u say but i know mine does 55. Next bad accel, plz. Mine will get to top speed in about 5 secs which is plenty fast enough. IRS is not some thing need. Personally i like solid axel better. Ur money, but i say the mag is fine, sp400 is better but not for the amount of money.thats my .02!

I have not riden either of the 325 s or 400 .
EVERY ARTICLE I HAVE READ ON THE 325 (Trail Boss and Magnum) said it was GROSSLY under powered and top speed between 35 and 45 depending on rider weight and size.
I would have to say spend the extra and jump to the 500HO.
