the awd on my friends 2001 sportsman 500 HO will not work. all the plugs, wires and switches are in. everything else works. lights, starter, everything except the awd. the light isnt on , on the switch either, so im pretty sure its gotta be a wire not connected somewhere. ??????
please help ASAP

If the light is not on, it has been my experience that its in the switch itself. Try taking it apart and cleaning all the contacts with brake cleaner and a small brush. You have to be very careful, there's some small parts in there.

 

the 4x4 doesnt work either

 

There is a switch on top of my 99 that went bad. Thats what the problem was on mine. Try shorting out the pins and see iff the light goes on.

 

The switch is on the top of the tranny. Sorry sometimes brain works faster then fingers.

 

just bought new switches because the plastic things were broke in them, the reverse and nuatral lights work perfect. could i still have the wires in the wrong places??
