Hi all
I saw about a month ago someone metioned that if you go down or up a tooth on your front sprocket you can get rid of some hesitation from the auto-tranny..my question is which one is it? Down 1 tooth or Up a tooth
Also, what would this do to top end??

I wouldn't change the sprocket at all on your quad. If you want to get rid of hesitation, put in a clutch kit. If you go down a tooth, it will slow the quad down for top end. If you went up a tooth, it would be faster, but you wouldn't accelerate as fast. Clutch kits are realativly easy to install, and in some cases can be done with the clutch still on the quad. Just be sure to use locktite when you put it back together, and use the torque specs, so you don't strip the clutch. Good luck!

You talking about a full clutch kit correct, not just changing the springs out alitte?

Your TB came with a 11 front sprocket and a 38 rear. This can also be expressed as a 3.45 ratio. The only way you can get a higher ratio is to go to a 40 rear tooth. This will end up a 3.64 ratio. This is as far as you can go on this end of the spectrum. The larger the ratio number, the better the "out of the hole" is but, you lose top end. The smaller the ratio number, the slower it is out of the hole but, it will have a faster top end but, your clutch has to set up for these different kinds of loads.
The hesitation you say you are feeling probably doesn't have anything to do with the sprocket ratio. Yours is almost as low as it can go. This honestly sounds like a clutching issue. When was the last time you replaced your belt?
If your clutch is tuned correctly and to your riding style, it really increases the fun factor on these machines. Throw in some engine mods and now you can really start making it something to play with.

I need to replace the sprockets on my bike..so I figured I would ask..I'm happy with it as is, just that slight hesitation..which I'm used to.....I just installed a higher compresstion head from RCR *Thanks Rick*, now I have to see what it will do to the bike.
I was thinking about saving up and getting the rapid reaction clutch from HPD *or Hot seat..I can't remember which* That thing is suppost to be awesome..
Any comments on that?
