polaris 700 v/s prairie 650

the tow rating is a combination of alot of variables..
power to pull it...
the 700 and 650 have about the same power altough the low range in the 700 is much lower topping out at about 30mph while the 650 tops out a lil over 40 mph in low.
power to stop it...
tow rating is also based on the braking performance, wich the kawi does have stronger brakes, and i also hear this is the limiting factor on the 700's towing capacity from being even higher.
load capacity...
in a independant suspension setup where the tongue weight is acted through the suspension, the suspension should be able to hold it, without upsetting the balance and handling of the quad severely.
wich is not as much as a concern with a straight axle quad, but the real limiting factor wich is way more important than the suspension is the load capacity of the tires..
those puny lil 2 and 4 ply tires will never hold as much weight as the stiffer 6 ply tires with tall side walls.
and the rawhides are the only 3 star rated tires you can get on a stock atv from any manufactuere.
weight...
if the load being towed decided to act on the suspension like say going up a hill, where it pulled up in the tongue, it shouldn't be able to pull the wheels off the ground..
as for performance...
if you put the EXAcT same weight rims and tires on the grizz prarie and 700, the acceleration runs would be very close if not dead even, altough the 700's clutch has been detuned to prevent lawsuits from people backflipping 700pd quads on themselves.
having ridden all three...I can say that they are very very differnt quads, and one will suit one person but not the other.
do yourself a favor and personally test drive all three.
