buttons

The helix helps with the upshift and downshift. Some people use them and some dont. It is not needed. You will probably notice more of a performance with more modded bikes. I do not use the helix on mine. I have rode TB,s with and without the helix and have noticed little gains. If I ever upgrade my clutch again I will go with a roller clutch. I am very satisfied with the $90 HPD kit. Most likely your buttons are ok because it is not an old machine. If they are worn a little you can turn them 180 degrees so the good side catches the helix.

Like 2manytoys said, just inspect the buttons. They are not expensive to change, and if they are worn, I would suggest replacing them. If you are going to have your clutch appart, clean it up real good and change the buttons, then you don't have to worry about them again for a long time.

I have seen buttons go out on machines less than two years old. Don't let age fool you. I change my buttons on an average of once a year if not 2 or 3 times. As for turning them around, maybe if I was in a pinch and couldn't get new ones. Other than that just buy new and replace them. Believe me, its alot cheaper than what could happen.
