Default clutch help!!

I finally finished my clutch kit. I just went up and down the driveway with the clutch cover off. It is 1 degree here and some snow on my driveway so I couldnt get ANY traction to see if the clutch was working right. I have a brand new 700 belt that I did wash first. When I put it on It looked like everything was lined up in the clutches. When in neutral or drive when I rev it up or slow down and it comes almost back to idle, I can hear a small whinning noise for only a second. Infact, it has always done that. It it normal? Also, when i shift into drive, I start to gring the gears. Is that my shift linkage and if so hoew do i fix it. Do I need to add a shim? I think that there is 4 or 5 shims already on the secondary. The kit came with a washer for the primary and what looked like a shim but I think that the dealer put it in the secondary clutch ( I had the dealer do the secondary clutch) Thanks

Default clutch help!!

If your idle is a little too high your gears will tend to grind,Either slow your idle down or pull your brake lever in to shift. You would only need a shim in your secondary ,if your belt is not sitting right in your secondary. While looking at your secondary from the side your belt needs to be riding about an 1/8 inch above the secondary sheaves,as your belt wears you can take out shims to get it back where it needs to be.Check this belt measurement at the top of the sheaves.Hope this helps.

Default clutch help!!

The belt lookd like it was riding about 1/8 above the secondary. Yeah, cause of the extreme cold temps here I had to raise the idle a bit because it keep stalling after i turned the choke off. Thanks CED, I always appreciate you help. later
