Has anybody replaced the 22's on the back of their Scrambler with a set of 20's. If so, did acceleration improve any and what are your thoughts on the loss of ground clearance?

I run 20" Holeshots on the back of my Scrambler when I'm not mudding. Mine is a 500, so keep that in mind.

The main thing I noticed is the corners are better, slightly lower, and gets good sidebite. There is a little more wheelspin off the start but not much, because there is also more traction, so it evens out. If you don't usually go over 45mph, I reccamend them. If you go faster than that, either get the 22" or get 20" and go up one on the front sprocket.

With my 20's, the acceleration might be a little better but not much that I can feel, the PVT just gears up higher sooner. The main place I see the benefit is lower height for corning. You can really appreciate it coming out of the corners, it seems to hook up faster and not have as much of a 'hesitation'.

Above 45mph, it takes it's time getting up to speed. With 22" tires I get the 55mph pretty easy, and then climb to 60 where the speedo stops. With the 20" I get to 45mph pretty fast, and slowly climb up to 55mph, I haven't got any faster than that yet. I would re-gear but I also switch the 22" frequently.

I found I was actualy faster on the trails around here with 22" mud tires, even though the 20" Holeshots got better traction and handling. The 500 likes the taller tires better. I am not sure about the 400. I have heard the 400 does better with smaller tires when it's hopped up.

Thanks Adam, that's what I wanted to know.
