Choose the Sportsman XP you would buy or not buy!

 

The 850 its more powerful and faster. The 550 is like having a 850 that runs like crap.

Heck I would take the also much more powerful 800 Sportsman over the 550 and the 800 cost less to boot.

Ist not like the 750lb 550 even has much on a weight saving or cost saving over the big bores ,so I don,t see the point of it.

For the choice of "other" I think the 750 Suzuki KQ is the best for your buck, it cost much less than the new 550 and has all the goods like EFI,IRS , diff lock ,more powerful DOHC motor and weighs 80lbs less than the 550.

I know not the same subject but still more of a competetive comparison thoe I do get your point on the Popo.

wow grizzly look like they win on them charts...

but I guess it all depends what YOUR looking at, what features matter to YOU
550 vs 550..both have PS...grizzly has a tiny bit more CC's.. .2" less ground clearance, but is 132lbs lighter

700vs 750 grizz has more than an inch ground clearance, bigger gas tank, 65lbs lighter, disc breaks all around, powersteering.
cons, it cost a tiny more, has less cc's..........um thats it..........

Grizz has them both beat IMHO

They all have disk brakes all around now a days (Except Honda). the 750 is a twin and has a DOHC while the Grizz is a single with a SOHC motor. But still its a tuff call between the two.

Now if the new XP550 is similar to the new 550 Grizzly than it does not have much mor power over the old 500 Sportsman.

 

According to several websites the Sportsman 550 XP is 40 HP. Google "polaris 550 atv horsepower" and it brings up a bunch of them. The Sportsman 500 carb is 36 HP, and the 500 EFI is 37.5 HP. That's even more than the Grizzly 550 and only 1HP less than the Rincon 680.

P.S. The Sportsman 550 has more power than the old 600 did.

 

The Grizz 550 hp is 36.9 but in a much lighter chassis than the Sportsman and if I am not mistaken the Sportsman 850 comes with 4 wheel disk brakes the 550 is still has 3 caliper system like the old Sportsmans did!
