I say autumn is the best riding season- but I guess that depends on which state you live in since many states don't experience the extreme differences in seasons like we do up north.

my second choice would be spring because I love muddy water holes

my favorite fall photo-
taken in claremont, nh.
was riding with moose last october the day of the 2011 blizzard.
was a long ride home and 7 days of no power!

If I had to pick a favorite, by far it's fall. I ride in winter, not so much in spring (due to trail closures for mud season), summer and fall. Winter is a close second when there's enough snow to ride on the trails.

That was a funny ride with Beergut in October last year. There had been a little snow the night before and Beergut and my son, Moose One thought it was hilarious for me to be leading and knocking all the snow off the leaves and down my back as I was first through the bent over saplings.

Of course, we didn't believe the weathermen and went on the ride anyhow. We were up on a mountain about an hours ride when the snow started coming down hard. Took my son and I 4 hours to get home on a normal 1.75 hour ride. Saw dozens of accidents and almost caused one myself. Power went out just as we were coming up to our home street. Lost power for 4 days but got a lot of firewood...

I used to really like winter because I had the trails (almost) all to myself and it was a smooth ride when the holes were all full of snow. Now I ride mostly in summer because that's when all my friends ride. I like autumn and spring a lot, but early and late summer is probably the best. I might change my mind any minute and want to vote for all year.

Winter riding is fun but i hate num fingers!! But with the hoodies and carhartt on i'm practically indestructable Diesel smells better in the winter to- that's another plus- riding involves my truck

But i prefer summer/early fall- nice temperature- hate to say it- but i like throwing up dust- can't do that if there is snow on the ground.
A cooler full of cokes and a ham sandwhich tastes better in the summer to

I love to ride no matter what the season. I live in Cali so the weather doen't have the extremes like the rest of the country. In the winter its to the beach, the desert or the valley. the rest of the year its in the mountains, or the beach. Gotta love this country.

Default spring

I like spring the best, the animals coming back out, and all that beautiful mud, deep puddles and streams that look a little chancy. I like to ride all year but spring time seems a little fresher. and the mud.
